MEMORIAL — 2004 Saving the Tree
In October of 2004 volunteers worked along the banks of Pritchard Park directly below the 100–year–old Western Cedar, recently designated to the National Registry of Historic Trees by the American Forests organization, to take measures to prevent further erosion of the bank. A storm water run–off system was installed and sand was brought in by barge to reinforce the shoreline. Thank you to those who came out, got dirty, and saved this living treasure.
